As I mentioned yesterday and the day before yesterday, it's my birthday tomorrow. The big four-eight.

[deletia]

^^ that paragraph was about a bunch of stuff including but not limited to a lot of bad shit that happened on my birthday when I was a kid, but I deleted it because, like, sure, maybe past is prologue, but maybe it doesn't matter.

Sidebar: the [deletia] bit is from Microserfs:

I learned a great new word today: “deletia.” When you get an e-mail and reply to the sender, you simply obliterate everything they sent you and then, in small square brackets, write:

[deletia]

It stands for everything that’s been lost.

As a basketball fan, today was pretty wild. Earlier tonight, my partner and I were in attendance as the Toronto Tempo came back from down 14 in the third quarter to beat the Connecticut Sun 106-102.

About half an hour ago, the New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 106-105 despite being down 29 points in the second quarter. It was 76-49 Spurs at half, but for reasons passing understanding the Spurs —— who were down 2-1 in the series and seemed a mortal lock to tie it up —— stopped running proper offense, and stopped feeding their gigatalented superstar Victor Wembanyama in the paint, and even still, they were in a position to win the game late but De'Aaron Fox made one of the most boneheaded plays in basketball history and while I cannot imagine how bad he must feel, if I were his teammate I want to kill him with a hammer right now.

Anyway, sports are great, and basketball is great, and both of those things are also incredibly painful, but, also, when I wake up it will be my birthday.

Beat that with a stick.
