june 8 boo
It's all said and done.
Spurs 115
Knicks 111
Game 3 of the NBA Finals has come and Game 3 of the NBA Finals has gone and the Knicks are now leading the best-of-seven series 2-1. Tonight's game was at Madison Square Garden and was attended by, among other people, the President, who got roundly booed and later fell asleep. If you thought the game was spensi to attend, you'd be right, though it merits mention that the $4-5K USD "get-in" price is much lower than it was a few days ago.
🏀 Fun fact: a friend of mine bought a Game 3 ticket for $2,200 USD and then resold it for twice as much shortly thereafter.
Anyway, watching the game was the last thing I did today so it's still fresh in my mind, but most of what came before the game even started was much more interesting.
TL;DR is that a friend of nine took the day off work (and I didn't work today) and we just, like, wandered around Toronto for like five hours, in the middle of the day, pointing at things and talking about whatever came up. It was rad. Seeing what Monday afternoon in June looked like in three distinct areas of the city was interesting. My friend is in his late 20s and understands life better than most people. He's in a book club and I'm kind of jealous. I think it'd be fun to start one of those. A book club for, say, mystery and detective fiction aficionados. I want to chop it up with folks who read Karin Slaughter's Will Trent books and Sara Gran's Claire DeWitt books.
🏀 Also: here's another angle of Trump getting booed.
🏀 Also: bro thinks he was cheered. Did he think they were saying Boo-urns?
Anyway, kid is in a book club. He plays chess. He goes He's as extremely online as I am, obviously, and his brain is severely damaged, obviously, but he's still more in touch with what (I think) life is, and should be about, than many folks twice his age.
I say these things and think these thoughts in this way on this day because my birthday is this Thursday. In the days leading up to my birthday, I tend to get a bit down. My birthday makes me think a lot about time. About how I've spent it so far. About I want to spend it in the future. About what I hope to get done before I get sent to the big farm upstate where I can run and play with other dogs.
You know, guy stuff.
More tomorrow. Maybe.
