There is an experience of being young in Toronto that I miss but really only because I didn't do it well the first time around. Though I'm from here, I never lived in Toronto as an adult until I was in my 30s, and back then I was an idiot who drank too much and took too little care of himself, and, like, when those two factors get together you live a somewhat exciting but also painful kind of life that's something like falling out of a tree and hitting every branch on the way down.

Going to the BMV in the Annex at night was part of this experience, so reliving (rebranding? rebooting?) it a few weeks ago was special. So special, in fact, that we did it again tonight between eating and drinking at one place across the street and then eating and drinking at another place across the street.

It's nice to know the part of me that knows that BMV on a Friday night in the summer is better than BMV at any other time of the year and any other time of the day. I used to worry that as I got older, I would get less and less recognizable, both to myself and to the people around me. If anything, I've become more recognizable. I've finally come into focus.
