september 10 etc
I have posted every (week)day for almost a month.
When I blogged on August 11, I didn't know what I was starting because I wasn't sTaRtInG anything. I was just posting. Same for when I posted on August 12 and August 13.
It was only after that first week that I decided that I was going to keep posting every weekday until I couldn't or didn't.
If I had decided before starting that I was going to try to post every (week)day forever, there's no way I would have even made it this far. I would have been crushed under the weight of the expectation that I had to post which would lead to hating on myself for not following through, and this would repeat and compound and repeat and compound until I was paralyzed and unable to do anything at all.
In a past lifetime, that would be the point at which I would start drinking. A lot. By myself.
I will go into more detail about this kind of thing some other day, but for now the only thing I want you to take away from what I have written is that the systems you use to do the things you do really only have to make sense to you.
Like, the only rule is it has to work.

🔥🔥 Look! Ye masses, look! It's smoke! From the chimney! It's... white! The Unicode Consortium has spoken! The new emojis have been chosen and our bounty will include a trombone, an apple core, an orca, a gender-neutral ballet dancer, and Bigfoot. (TechCrunch)
🍏🍎 Apple Event highlights include the iPhone Air and AirPods 3, which will eventually have live translation capabilities enabling you to "have conversations in different languages, using your iPhone to translate while the phone plays one language and the AirPods handle the other." Can't wait to get these things and post-up at any mall in Scarborough. (TechCrunch)
🚄🚆 I like Europe and I like trains and I like taking trains in Europe and I'm going to Europe next spring for my buddy's wedding and if you are like me (sans the wedding thing, unless it is not nearly as exclusive an event as I was led to believe) you may want to mess around with this site that lets you know how many destinations are within a certain number of travel hours from a variety of European cities. (Chronotrains)
🛠️🪛 Our Nintendo Switch JoyCons are experiencing the dreaded drift issue, and I am contemplating fixing the joysticks myself by way of this GuliKit, uh, kit. (The Verge)
📕📕 Like audiobooks? Like supporting indie bookstores? Try Libro on for size. (libro.fm)
🍅🍅 I like advertising more than the average person but I don't think you need to care that much about the minutiae of advertising to enjoy this little ad that Rethink did for Heinz. (Adweek)
🏀⚾ If you're a sports fan but don't read my other blog, Oddball, you may be missing out. This week's sports trivia questions went up yesterday if you want to test your mettle. (oddball.blog)
🔫🔫 Right-wing misinformationist and provocateur Charlie Kirk just got shot at an event in Utah. I'm adding it here sans link because there is apparently a graphic video going around and I'm assuming that you may want to take steps to avoid seeing it and/or to ensure your kids don't see it.
