I've really wanted to write lately. This doesn't mean I have written, but I've certainly wanted to. But I have written. Some of it goes here, some of it goes to the Rocker Step, some of it goes to a secret third place. It's the ideas that are getting stuck. Tonight, a thing that unstuck me happened while I was chatting with basketball essayist Omar Zahran. We were talking about a vaguely homophobic thing we'd seen online and within a few minutes I was typing a mile a minute about how sad it is that a certain archetype of American man, whether he knows it or not, volunteers to numb himself to and separate himself from the richness and depth of the human experience. I don't know what they get in exchange, but it can't be worth it.
🏀 In other news, the Raptors steamrolled the Bulls in their season opener and the Dream mauled the Valkyries in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals. When times are uncertain, basketball will show us the way.
