obliterated tired
quietly fulfilled
thinking strategically
and poetically

That isn't meant to be a poem. They're just words. It's all just words. Words are like long balloons. Sometimes I twist them into a Kenny shape. Other times I twist them into letters I schedule-send to my partner in the middle of the night. Today I am using them to remind myself —— and the rest of you, incidentally —— that this stalled and largely stupid moment in history, the one turned the internet from a library into a store and then forced the store to use dynamic pricing, is nearly over. I am not known as an overly optimistic person, but I actually am. I believe in tomorrow. I don't even care if it doesn't come. Believing in it is the point.

About five years ago, someone very dear to me gave me a metal keychain stamped with these words in this array:

GOOD THINGS HAPPEN
LOVE IS REAL
WE WILL BE OKAY

I put this keychain in my pocket every day. I don't read the words every day, but sometimes I will remember they're there and I will feel better, because good things do happen, and love is real, and we will be okay.

In the words of Saint Anthony of Edwards: believe that.

🌲 gonna
🌼 go
🌱 touch crash
🌳 grass hard
🌷 now

Be good to yourself.
