It's not exactly what I said, but a pretty good approximation of something I said to my partner before she went to bed goes something like this:

I know that I don't drink enough water, or didn't, but now that I'm actually paying attention to this, making srue that I drink enough water, I'm kind of blown away by how much better I feel. I think better, I sleep better, I feel more active. It's crazy. I knew making good changes would make me feel better but I'm not sure I knew doing so would make me feel this much better. This is why they keep people busy all the time.

And, like, I get it. I get that the reason people like me but also people who are not like me don't drink enough water is, weirdly, that there often isn't enough time. Half the people I know are overscheduled and the other half are un- or underemployed, and half of that second half are doing the best they can with gig type jobs and the other half of that half are likely doing what I have found myself doing far too often: bedrotting, rewatching old shows, and doing whatever I could to avoid treating myself as good as I treat our plants.

This is not a post about depression. It's not even a post about unhappiness. I think it's a post about how life is somehow short and long and simple and complex in every moment and sometimes we get lost in the glare.

A few days ago, I've been feeling weird, by which I think I meant off. I'm not still there, but I still desperately want to go gently into whatever the next thing is.
