Social media would be great if you weren’t permitted to see replies and no one was allowed to tell you how your post was received. Posting is fun. I like posting and I like reading other people's posts. I do not like reading anything written in response to me nor do I like the idea of someone quote-posting me for any reason that isn't obsequious flattery. So, yeah, if someone could go on and build the perfect social network that'd be great, because the shit we have now is bad and heavily botted.

pass the aux

A few days ago I mentioned that Mike Fossey had passed away and that Luke O'Neil and others eulogized him in nice and kind ways. A different form of eulogy and/or celebration of life came by way of a YouTube playlist of his favourite songs made by a close friend of his. It's 89 tracks long and it includes at least one Mclusky track, which means it's very good.

horseplay

enclose_horse

Regular reader DL sent me a game called enclose.horse because I'm always nattering on about how I love the word horse despite not being overly interested in actual horses. Now I am sharing it with you. I am the winner of share.enclore.horse. Giddy-up.

good writer bad person

The other day I typed "all love stories are ghost stories" and I thought for a brief moment that it was an original thought. It was not. It was something that David Foster Wallace wrote like a million times. To be clear, I'm not one of those DFW guys. I have never owned or read Infinite Jest. This is not to say that I haven't read DFW. I have. But the only thing that really sticks out (other than "all love stories are ghost stories") is that miraculous piece he wrote about Roger Federer for the New York Times (it's a gift link so click through). I'm pretty sure I've also read Consider the Lobster, but, also, I can't really recall doing so. At any rate, I wasn't going anywhere important here. I was just taking a stroll and you were taking it with me. And now, before we part ways, let us not forget that DFW was horribly abusive to Mary Karr and other women.

solid gold

blog_leprechaun

For some reason my partner brought up Leprechaun in the Hood the other day. I have never seen it. Neither has she. Here are some quotes from some reviews of Leprechaun in the Hood, currently rocking a 30% over at Rotten Tomatoes:

An utterly incompetent series of cheap laughs, cheaper production values and cheapest Coolio cameos, Leprechaun in the Hood is more "pot o' mold" than "pot o' gold."

It's not a very good film in any way, but it manages to be average, and that alone makes it a franchise standout.

Coolio's finest moment.

Also, Warwick Davis was nominated for the Video Business Video Premiere Award for best actor in a direct-to-video release for his efforts in the film. He lost to Courtney B. Vance who was excellent good enough (maybe?) in a movie called Love and Action in Chicago.

some guys

This guy but also this guy and maybe even this guy. Tumblr rules and I'm still there.

make beliefs

I'm an NHL athiest these days but if are or you know a hardcore Maple Leafs fan, you may want to buy them this. Also, I spent five minutes just now trying to to make a "losers since sixxxx sevvvennnnn" joke. Did I mention I haven't slept in a day and a half? Because I haven't.
