Don't get too horny about the "xxx," it's just part of the new post title format tweak as per my New Year's Day post:

✅ Post title format (2026): lowercase month + arabic numeral day + "omg" or "lol" or "wtf" or "xxx" or "fml" or "brb" or or or anything else of that nature (and yes, "etc" will still be in the mix).

On Friday I got deep, or at least deep-ish. I wrote about tripe, a friendship breakup, and a lady who misses her dead husband so much she writes little messages to him via Threads posts. It's a good post. It felt good and cathartic to write. Weirdly enough I reread this old post of mine before that long story about B poured out of me. Post hoc ergo propter hoc? Park your pig outside buddy, we speaka de onglaise here.

Friend breakups are hard. They are in many ways worse and more painful than romantic breakups, and, as my friend AW said to me the other day, there aren't nearly enough movies or stories about them. I would love to write something like that. Friend breakups deserve to be more of a cultural trope. They deserve to be popularly explored in songs and TV shows and films because friend breakups always have a quality of brutal rejection. Friends don't break up because they're incompatible. Friends break up because friendships can grow into something truly poisonous and bad. Familiarity, contempt. You get it.

I don't remember how I ended up reading through an issue of Micro Adventurer from February, 1984 but I ended up reading through an issue of Micro Adventurer from February, 1984. And now you can too.

We recently noticed that we say way more commercials when we use YouTube via a Smart TV app vs. when we use YouTube on our computers or my tablet. As it turns out, we weren't the only ones.

While discussing Clippers rookie Yanic Konan Neiderhäuser (yes, that's really his name), Kawhi Leonard referred to Moreno Valley, CA as "The Murda," which

a) took me back
b) reminded me that I haven't finished reading Safe by Ryan Gattis

I ended on a book because I didn't read nearly enough books in 2025. Definite YoY decrease after getting ~45 done in 2024. So, yeah, I'm going to pick Safe back up, but I also have to finish all the other books that are on my bedside table, and, while I'm at it, start jotting down resolutions.

I make resolutions every year. It's dumb and kind of lame, but I like it. I like the idea of starting off the year with intentions. I like the idea of framing a calendar year in a way that it's like, oh, well, I'm going to make progress this year, and I aim to do it in the following ways.

I'll probably write a resolutions post this week, and I think you should write your own. Come be dumb and lame with me.
