It's weird to think about MLK Day within the context of [gestures broadly at America and then passes out] but here we are. That said, it's probably useful to remember that civil rights are never freely given, which is a fancy and poetic way of saying that people who with power and money and access and influence will do anything to keep it. They'll even break reality.
