I don't know about you but I try to draw out good times to make them last as long as possible. I don't know that you can actually, literally do that, but I try anyway. How? By being very intentionally present. If you don't know what I mean, just try to lock into some enjoyable everyday moment sometime.
A tense at-bat in a baseball game. Someone going out of their way to hold a door open. The weird little ballet everyone performs in a packed subway car when it's rush hour and you're doing the milk run and you want to die but really you just want to be at home on your couch.
To be clear, this isn't a bit. I really do think can actually experience something not unlike Max Payne-style bullet time in real life. You just need to find a way in, or turn your head at just the right time.
The other day we had a few people over and everyone was chatting with everyone else and there was a very warm conversational thrum and I caught my partner's eye from across the room and we had this shared little moment of "this is really nice" and I swear to God Shammgod that moment lasted and persisted and expanded into a wave sturdy enough to stand on.
Being able to be fully in the moment is a superpower. If you are feeling like you are far from the world, or the world is far from you, just lock into something small. How good the sandwich is. How bad the Leafs are.
You'll know it when you see it. Or see it when you know how to look for it. Trust the process. It'll happen. You'll see a schooner being captained by Jahlil Okafor. He will be wearing an Easter Bunny suit.
